Sokol, part 2

Participants of the Sokol parade waiting for it to start. I assume that the lady in the blue skirt is wearing some sort of traditional Czech costume.

We happened to be in Brno for the 150th anniversary of the Sokol organization. Amazing colourful costumes and a big parade.

Caprese

Cool lunch on a hot day. Caprese, or tomato and mozzarella salad is one of my perennial faves; and it was very well done at Adria in Brno.

Absinthe

I had my first taste of absinthe in Brno last weekend. I am not sure if I like the taste, but I love the colour.

Pretty in Prague

My Mom caught this photo in Prague: amazing dress and a very pretty girl.

Bars

IMG_6822, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.

Many of the lower storey windows in Olomouc had bars on them, like in Spain. Whether this is to keep burglars out or daughters in, I know not. In any case, they are often higly decorative.

Magic Mushroom

My friend Hanna baked this amazing cake...I don't think that I've ever seen a more beautiful cake. She kindly gave me permission to post this in my blog.

New Camera!!

IMG_7765, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.

Our old camera simply stopped working all of a sudden, so yesterday we bought a new one, and this time our first digital SLR camera; soooooo exciting! We chose the Canon EOS 600D. I love it so far, although I've had very little time to test it. Had to do a traditional still life with everyday objects from our kitchen.

Indian Rest Stop

This building was a rest stop between Delhi and Agra. Looks a bit different than the typical gas stations were one usually stops for a rest while driving. There was even an actual snake charmer.

Water Feature

A water-feature at an Indian hotel. All the good Indian hotels seem to have one.

These guys were probably having a bachelor party...one is wearing a dress. But I actually really like their shirts.

Decorative Door, part 2

This is the same door as in the previous post. There's little statues hanging from the door. I've never seen anything like it.

Mime

Elegant street performer in Krakow's old town. The building behind her is the Hard Rock Café. We did not visit it this time but we will for sure next time. At least in Bangalore, they had an amazing steak and Caesar salad so it was one of our fave places to eat.

It does not take much to be comfy in a new place...having my own slippers helps a lot.

Little Rome

IMG_7406, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.

Because it has so many churches, Krakow is known as "little Rome". The feeling of the city, however, reminded me much more of Paris.

Stormy Skies

Faux ami

IMG_7482, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.

I was about to order caviar (I've never tasted it), but then I realized that this may simply mean "café" (or coffee shop) and Google Translate confirmed it. It's what the French call "un faux ami" (a false friend), meaning a word that sounds like something familiar but actually has a totally different meaning. I also realized that I already know quite a bit of Czech (after only 2 months) because I understood some Polish because it resembles Czech. E.g. coffee is "kava" in Czech.

Love is in the air

It's wedding season in Poland and all the hotels seemed to be full of wedding guests. One of my colleagues - who lives in Poland - is also getting married this weekend; I am so happy for him! This elegant hall at the Paszkowka Palace Hotel near Krakow is set up for a wedding reception - what a venue!
