Katharine Ross

I recently watched both versions of the movie "Stepford Wives": the original one from 1975 and the 2004 remake (with Nicole Kidman). I much preferred the original one with Katharine Ross - she's amazingly beautiful in a completely natural way. And I loved her clothes in that movie. According to the Internet Movie Database, she was "widely idealized as the symbol of beauty for the Woodstock generation". No wonder I liked her - I am very much into the hippy style right now. And what's more, her birthday is the same as mine! Obviously the year is not the same, she was born in 1940. She's most well known for her role in "The Apprentice" (with Dustin Hoffman).

This is model Laura Ponte, photographed by Elin Klin of the great Swedish Style by Kling blog. What I especially love about this photo is the mosaic floor!

Steak

Dinner on the first night of my holidays. I made the caprese salad and my husband cooked the steak - it was perfectly cooked and utterly delicious.

Cheers!

Just started my 3-week holidays - cheers to that!

Patchwork denim

What a great denim look! I am sure that those are not store-bought clothes. A good DIY project.

Holiday!!

IMG_3145, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.
I wore this to the office on my last working day before my holidays. Top by Adidas, from Bangalore, India (it's actually a tennis top - the kangoroo pocket is for tennis balls), skirt by Henri Lloyd (from an outlet store in Helsinki, Finland), silver earrings by Esprit, shoes by Vagabond (at 50% off), bracelet from Snö of Sweden, purse/wallet by Jean-Paul Gaultier (at 70% off from Bangalore, India).

Breakfast salad

We were out of eggs, so this was my low-carb breakfast.

Ice-cream

A new fave dessert: vanilla ice-cream with crushed almonds. Yummy! And relatively low carb...

Denim cut-offs are THE item for this summer. Should wear mine more, while there's still time...

Hat's off to you

I wanted to get a close-up of the girl from the previous post - isn't her hat just spot on? Love!!

Back in black

I met this elegant couple at the terrace of the Amarillo restaurant in Espoon Keskus, Finland today. They both look amazing! I love the tie-dye effect of the dress.

Tuscan wall

Up until now, my husband and I have been taking the photos of my outfits indoors. But I have to say that nothing compares with natural light! My top is a recent purchase, it's a brand called (very appropriately) Saint Tropez. It's 100% rayon (viscose), which is my fave fabric. It's considered a man-made fabric, but it's actually made from the pulp of trees - so it's really a natural fibre, just like the more modern bamboo (which I also totally love). The pants are silk, taylor-made in Bangalore, India. The shoes and purse were a recent thrift-store purchase (purse @ 6 eur, purse @ 2 eur). I was mainly interested in the shoes, but the purse is the exact same colour, so I couldn't resist. The necklace, earrings and ring are amber. The necklace is from Kovalam Beach, Kerala, India, the earrings from Tallinn, Estonia and the ring from Santorini, Greece. The bracelet is by Snö of Sweden.

Tequila

img141, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.

I love this photo, which is actually an ad for Silver Tequila. I love the unnatural position of the lady, the way she looks, and the way she's holding the glass. I could use a stiff drink myself right about now...I've been organizing electronic archives for hours and hours....time for bed!

Cerulean knit

img143, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.

I absolutely adore this sweater! One day, I will knit something like this.

Scanned from a magazine.

After ski

img146, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.
How about these for knitting ideas? Traditional Scandinavian-looking knits seem to be all the rage. I love the knit dress!! And the high-heeled "hiking boots". This look is from last winter. This is also scanned from a magazine.

You can see the credits for this look here:

Casual elegance

img149, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.

This look would be quite practical here in Finland - sweater over an evening gown. I love the hairstyle too. I'd love to knit a sweater like this.

This is also scanned from a magazine and I'm afraid I don't know which one or who the clothes were designed by.

Highlander

img137, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.
This must be the most beautiful dress I have ever seen!! And the whole look is totally amazing. This is scanned from a magazine, but I don't remember which one anymore.

Dress by Carolina Herrera, wool-and-mohair shell by Céline.

By the way, I checked the definition of "shell", and it was this: "A usually sleeveless and collarless, typically knit blouse, often worn under another top". So I'm not quite sure what it's referring to here - to the wooly vest or to the top underneath? In any case, it all looks absolultely gorgeous.

Chinese shop

This is also from Columbine Smille's gorgeous blog: a Chinese shop in Bilbao, Spain. Oh how I miss China! I lived there for two years (1999-2000). I adore this kind of Chinese furniture and hope to have lots of it in my home in the future.

Van Gogh's room - Part 2

This is the painting I was referring to in the previous post.

Van Gogh's room

IMG_1639, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.

This is Van Gogh's old room - made to look like his painting of it. So it's part real, part trompe l'oeil. This house is in Arles, France.

Dilapidated

IMG_1635, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.

Oh how I love these houses in all their dilapidated glory! Again, from Arles, France.

Le Lion Gourmand

The name of the restaurant translates roughly as "the gluttonous lion". Taken in Arles, France.

More flowers

IMG_1649, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.

This photo just takes my breath away. It's so beautiful I almost can't stand it. This was taken in Arles - and it's full of houses like this.

Pink lamp

Flowers everywhere

IMG_1651, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.

This is one of the things I love about Southern Europe - the sheer quantities of flowers.

Pinkish Van

IMG_1654, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.

As has already become apparent, I love little old cars. I saw this unusual one somewhere in the South of France.

Garden at the sanitorium

This is the painting by Van Gogh that I referred to in the previous post. Arles is full of places made famous by Van Gogh.

Mental

IMG_1666, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.
This is the mental institute where Van Gogh was a patient. It has been renovated to resemble his painting of it as much as possible.

Dream House

This looks a lot like my dream house. Only it would not be in Provence, it would be somewhere in Italy, maybe Tuscany or Piemonte.

Church near Arles, France.

Sensible shoes

P1080179, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.

You can always tell when I'm doing some major sight-seeing: that's the only time I wear these kinds of really sensible shoes! Hat by Marimekko, purse by Furla (thrifted). Tank top was bought years ago in Milan. White hoodie (worn around waist) from Stockholm, Sweden. Pants probably from Greece. Shoes from KL, Malaysia. I paid a couple of euros for them and wore them for years.

Little House in Provence

Bull's Eye!

IMG_3106, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.
Only my second attempt at cooking eggs "sunny side up" (or Bull's Eyes, as they are also known) - and they're perfect. Paper napkin from Marimekko. Glass is from the Kartio series by Iittala. Dishes are from the Teema series, also by Iittala. These have Moomin figures on them. The "slow dancing ghost" salt and pepper shaker were a gift from my older brother and sister-in-law - so cute!

In Memoriam

Here in Scandinavia, we think that things that happen elsewhere in the world simply don't happen...well, we are wrong.

Giant Granny Square

IMG_3080, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.

I'm crocheting a giant granny square, meaning that instead of making several small ones, I just keep going. Let's see how big it will eventually get - I'm even thinking it could be a bed spread for a double bed...

Cooking eggs

IMG_3085, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.
This was my low-carb breakfast this morning. I cooked eggs sunny side up for the first time ever. I need more practice since one of the yolks broke. I normally always scramble my eggs, simply because it's so fast and easy. Now I plan to learn to cook all the different kinds of eggs. In the past I've cooked scrambled eggs, some sort of omelettes, French toast and boiled eggs. Now I'll be practicing all the other kinds as well...

I got the inspiration for this breakfast from this previous post:

Thrifted shoes, part 4

IMG_3062, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.

This is the last pair of shoes I got for 6 euros. These are leather, from Andiamo. I simply love the way they look. These will be great for wearing at the office in the autumn.

Thrifted shoes, part 3

IMG_3061, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.

This pair of shoes was also for 6 euros. However, these are probably not leather (time will tell). I love them because they look a bit like cowboy boots.

Thrifted shoes, part 2

IMG_3060, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.

This was another pair of leather shoes I got for 6 euros. I also got a purse in the exact same colour for 2 euros (not leather).
